Capo Passero

Capo Passero forms the most south-easterly point of Sicily. The headland is not very high itself, but just offshore is the Isola di Capo Passero, which features a small fort built in 1599 and marks the highest point of the island.  The principal town in the area is Portopalo on the Sicilian mainland, which is historically an agricultural and fishing town, supplemented today by tourism.
